I attended a lecture led by a National Geographic photographer. He stated that he is always hearing people say, "Wow! Is that a REAL picture?" He says that he doesn't use photo-enhancing software on his photos; what you see is what he saw.
My question is, at what point does a photographer actually become a good desktop designer and less of a good photographer?
It's great to digitally enhance your photos and cause some really wierd effects, but are you actually touting your expertise as a photographer? Aside from adding a little light or darkening/removing too much light/glare, does too much enhancing take you into a different arena?
